I'm a guy, and I don't think this was fair at ALL! Friday I went to the supercenter to look at some electronics, mini stereos and speakers, stuff like that. So I went to the electronics section and saw the CRAZIEST sh**! I was in an aisle, and there was 1 boy at the end of the aisle, he was going through DVD's at that end. In the middle of the aisle, was this she looked like a business woman I guess. She was in her 40's I guess, had on this multicolored dress and a short sleeve top. She was mabe 5'4 and 150 I guess. The boy was shorter than her by a little bit, skinnier, and had this big shirt and baggy shorts on. Now I never saw a customer service guy the whole time in that section, I dunno where he went to. I didn't see what the boy was doing at the end of the aisle, but SHE did! He was trying to lift DVD's, rip em off. She sees him doing it, walks up to him, and tells him, "Put those back, I know what you're doing, put em back." He says to her, "Mind your own business, bit**!" Then he tried to go around her, but she stepped in front, blocked his way and said "You need to put those back, NOW." He tried again to go around her but she stepped in front the other way too, blocked his way again! So tried to push her, but she's taller/heavier than him so she didn't move hardly at all. He went to swipe at her/sort of shover, and their arms got tangled up, but not for long! It happened like 1,2,3! She ends up behind him, wraps her arms over his upper body, trips 1 of his feet so he falls forward and eases him down to the floor on his belly. So when he's down on the floor face down on his belly, she puts his hands behind his lower back (not hurting him, just holding them there), puts 1 leg over his hips, and sat down on his thighs!!! Man, he was PISSED! He tries pushing her off his legs. Uh uh, NO chance! He yells, "get off my legs bit**, get off me!" but he can't move. I was shocked! She had NO trouble at all doing that to him! He was helpless. She looks at me and said CALMLY, "Would you get security for me please?" And I just looked at him, sat on by her, pointed at her, and she said, "Don't worry, I've got him!" and smiled! That comment pissed him off more, he cussed her out again and tried again to push her off his legs. Nope! Not gonna happen. She told him, "You need to calm down." I couldn't believe how calm she was! So I left, took me about 2 minutes to bring the security guy back. We get back, and now the boy has a TOTALLY different attitude! He's CRYING!!!!! And telling her, "please, get off my legs, i'm really sorry ok? i didn't mean to." and crying! he wasn't trying to push her off him anymore! So the guard looks in shock, then smiles. She let him have his hands back, got off his thighs, and the guard asked her a few questions and took the boy away. I asked her how she did that? She said she's a paraprofessional. I told her I dunno what that is. She said she teaches in a classroom for kids with behavior problems and in her job, she gets trained how to restrain kids who get out of control, and that's one way she does it, she's had to do it before. WOW! But really, I don't think it was fair for her to humiliate him like that. I mean, once she sat on him, he had no chance, he couldn't move! That wasn't really fair to him. But, what do you think? Was she right to do that to him, sit on him like that? Should she be applauded for doing what she did?Q for women, your thoughts on this?
Should she have let him continue stealing, verbally abusing and hitting her instead? She took control of the situation calmly and resolved the situation and removed her child from the store.
When you have kids that are screaming at you and verbally abusing you and not listening to you, come back and revisit this question.
Which do you think is better, his mother restraining him and removing him from the store or letting him steal and he gets arrested for theft?
My opinion only: The boy should be humiliated for speaking to a woman/elder in that manner. He should be humiliated for trying to steal a bunch of goods from a store. He should be humiliated for the way he was acting and what he was trying to do.
Further, he was trying to intimidate her (calling her names), trying to use force against her (pushing, etc.,), and trying to commit a crime. The fact that he didn't succeed is incidental. The fact that he was trying to intimidate someone into being silent while a crime is committed IS this issue. Clearly, somewhere, someone else let him get away with all of his antics to the point that he honestly believes that by being louder/stronger/tougher, he will get to do what he wants. His encounter with her might help him to understand that one day he's going to come up on someone, trying to be a thug, and he's going to wind up being thugbeat himself. Better that he learns it in a way that doesn't harm him before he learns it in a way that does. Jails are full of kids who started out just this way, and the end picture is never pretty.
On another note, should she have put her hands on the kid? Probably not. Could she have just gotten security before he left? Yeah, probably so. But the fact that she stopped the kid, held the kid accountable for his actions, and ensured that he meets accountability in a real way BEFORE he becomes a full time thug is only good.
Applaud her.Q for women, your thoughts on this?
Oh good god -- "was that fair to humiliate him like that?" HELL YES.
Was it fair for him to steal from a store like that? What the hell do you think?
He got what was comming to him. Period. Little sh^t deserved what he got and the woman should be awarded, not just applauded.
Grow the hell up. This was just some punk a$$ kid who got taken down by a woman and proceeded to CRY about it. Nothing more.
You think THAT was unfair to him, and you call yourself a man, Shazzier?
That PUNK tried to steal from a store, verbally abused and elderly woman and... Well, you know what happened.Q for women, your thoughts on this?
She had every right to do that. HE was wrong for trying to steal. If he hadn't stole those CD's, he would have never been humiliated.
She didn't hurt him, legs are strong. If she lost control of the situation he could have hurt her instead. Shes just trying to help out the store and keep the crime in the community down. I give her mad props. Pretty brave to do something like that. Its one thing to just ask someone to not steal, but not many people would enforce it that much, you know? I bet he learned a lesson.
