If she waited more than 24 hours, but put it in within a week of the first day of her period, then she will be protected 7 days after she put it in.
I think the website says that you can actually put it in any time of month and be protected after 7 days. But if she didn't put it in the week of her period, I would be safe and give it a month to get into her system.
You said that she put it in the night she started her period though. So she's good to go! :)
EDIT: Of all the hormonal birth control options out there, NuvaRing one of the most effective because you take away the margin of error that is present with the pill (less women forget to put the ring in on time than they miss a daily pill). The only thing more effective than NuvaRing is the Mirena IUD, which is as effective as sterilization (which, people don't point out, also has a small rate of failure).
In short, you guys have picked a very good method of birth control, and don't let the idiots on here tell you any differently. If you're super concerned about pregnancy, you can use condoms too, but only 3 in 1000 girls get pregnant using the NuvaRing alone, so the odds are definitely in your favor. How long after Nuvaring insertion until sex can begin%26gt;?my guess would be to look up the website on nuvaring and it should give you exact time lines when you can begin to have sex. but its not 100% effective against pregnancy so you should never have unprotected sex unless you are trying to conceive a child. How long after Nuvaring insertion until sex can begin%26gt;?She's protected :) If she insterted it day 1 of her period then yeah :)
I'm on the ring too and I love it because its so easy.
