I'd say probably California.
They've got a couple of court cases to get through, and then it looks like California will have legal same-sex marriages. The current case has to be heard before a federal court of appeals (or maybe it has, but they're just working up a decision), and then the anti-gay folks will want to appeal it to the US Supreme Court. My guess is that The Supreme Court won't want to mess with it now that New York has approved gay marriage. But you never know.
All that should take 1 to 3 years.
Of course, another state could pass it. Maine almost did, a while back.
Other good candidates would be New Jersey, Oregon, Washington state, Nevada, Illinois, Ohio. Mostly the Blue Democratic states. What will be the next state to legalize same-sex marriage?Hopefully Kentucky because I live there. But I don't know any information about legalizing it here.
It just makes me very sad that if I wanted to see my Best Friend of 11 years get married then I'd have to make arrangements to go somewhere far away.
It makes me feel guilty because I can get married wherever the **** I want to and she can't.
Everyone deserves the right to be married to the human-being who makes them the happiest.
But "all hell" would break loose according to our politicians. Fools. What will be the next state to legalize same-sex marriage?
Since California is always in competition with New York they will probably rush some legislation through. What will be the next state to legalize same-sex marriage?Texas, is talking about is maybe Colorado as-well
