How soon after starting the pill can I start having unprotected sex?

I started the birth control pill at the beginning of April, and am currently on my first period since starting it. I was wondering how soon after from the starting point of the pill would it be considered safe to start having unprotected sex?

Keep in mind, I am using the answer I receive from this question strictly as a guideline. I will continue to have protected sex, but I just would like to know at what point it would be considered generally safe, or safer to have unprotected sex on the birth control pill. How soon after starting the pill can I start having unprotected sex? From the day you start the pill you must use other non-hormonal contraceptives (i.e., condoms) for at least 14 days to prevent becoming pregnant.

I'm sure you are aware the pill only prevents pregnancy, not Sexually Transmitted Diseases, but you referred to safe sex: Use a condom at all times, and even if you are in a stable, monogamous relationship, use condoms until you have both been tested for and cleared of STDs.

The most common STDs are gonorrhea, chlamydia and herpes, and of course HIV/AIDS is the most severe. There are others like Hepatitis A %26amp; B, genital warts and 'crabs' (pubic lice). Hepatitis B is ridiculously easy to catch and in some cases can reduce your life expectancy more than HIV would. Even if you both think you're 'clean', many STDs don't show symptoms for a long time. Who knows who your last sexual partner slept with, and who that person slept with, and so on.

For more information about STDs, I suggest you start by reading about chlamydia, the most common STD in the USA: http://www.sextoyspy.com/ShowSexOracleAr鈥?/a>How soon after starting the pill can I start having unprotected sex?
If you have been taking the pill on time every day and not missed any doses, then after 1 cycle your pill has reached maximum efficacy. Anytime after you start your second pack it is generally safe to have unprotected sex. Just keep in mind that it is only 98-99% effective at preventing a pregnancy. How soon after starting the pill can I start having unprotected sex? Most birth control pills are effective after being taken correctly (no missing any pills, taken at the same time each day, etc.) for one month. Keep in mind that certain antibiotics can make birth control pills ineffective. Also, two close friends of mine that are both Registered Nurses have still gotten pregnant while being on the pill (after being on BC pills for quite some time). Nothing is fool proof. Just something to keep in minde. How soon after starting the pill can I start having unprotected sex?
NEVER... Unless you know your partner really well that is. There isn't any pill that will prevent STDs.How soon after starting the pill can I start having unprotected sex?AFTER 7 DAYS .How soon after starting the pill can I start having unprotected sex?
*cough**cough* hmm...If you're not married, don't even think about it! if you're married, then take one every day. you can "do it" about, say 25 minuets after the pill, let the pill go into your bloodstream, but don't "do it" every day, try maximum 3 times a month. not week! I think that It would be best to lay of the "whoopee" until you take the pills regularly for 1 week, to let your system get used to it. then only 3 times MAXIMUM! Hope this helped!
