Are men expected to take the initiative more and women be submissive? Or are the genders on more of an even footing? How quickly will Chinese people expect to have sex with one another after dating? Is it similar to in the West? it's all about "who's higher than who"...

theoretically Chinese people aren't supposed to have sex before marriage or at least before a couple of years of dating...

in fact, it depends on the origin (village/ city) and many private factors...

no, in the west people don't have to be married to have a baby so they can have the results of sleeping in one bed as they like...

Beijing and Shanghai are greatly westernized...

How do Chinese cultural attitudes to sex and dating differ from those in the West?Chinese young people take dating and relationships quite seriously. Their focus is on multi-generational family responsibility, getting married, and raising children. Most urban couples marry in their early to mid 20s. Countryside couples marry even younger. Babies typically follow within 1 to 3 years.



Many newly married Chinese couples live with or very close to their parents. When the couple's baby arrives, the newly minted grandparents help out a great deal with raising the child. This is a Chinese cultural tradition.



Casual sex and meaningless relationships, which are common in western countries, are much less prevalent in China. Divorce rates in China are also quite low, unlike in the west.How do Chinese cultural attitudes to sex and dating differ from those in the West?
