Can anyone help me with a sex and the city themed party?

For my 17th I want to throw a sex and the city but need ideas. I have seen the film and loved it but have never seen the series. I am planning to invite over 20 people. I need ideas on decorations, food etc etc. Any ideas welcomed! :) thanks.Can anyone help me with a sex and the city themed party?I love your theme! You can decorate with pink and black balloons and streamers being that's how they're promoting everything with those colors. You can even do the tablecloths and napkins and things in pink and black.



For food, you can either go with the theme of what the girls always ate, but honestly, I'm a big believer in serving what YOU like and not serving food because it follows a theme. It's your party and you have to be happy and the food has to be YOUR favorites, not someone else's! If you're interested in what the girls' ate though, they always ate a lot of Chinese food and salads when they were together, there were times when they had pizza, Miranda insisted on fried chicken at her baby shower and no finger sandwiches, when Carrie was with Big, they ate pasta and steaks. For drinks it was always Cosmos, wine, martinis, which you can do mocktinis. Being the show was done in NY you can also serve some soft pretzels and hot dogs.



For games, there are trivia games out that you can play with your friends of the show, but if they didn't watch the show either, they won't get the questions, if they did, you can get the game at amazon.com, toys r' us, etc.



You can also get some black and white posters of New York city and hang them around the party area, with the black and pink balloons and decorations it will look really nice. And it will give you the surroundings of having NY around you. Hang the posters around the party area.



You can also hand some clear, stringed Christmas lights around the party area to make it a party atmosphere and to make it look like you're in the lit up area of the city streets.



You can also do a pinata, get one in the shape of a big shoe or a martini glass and fill it with all the candy that you and your friends like. Usually when you're at the party store, in the aisle of the pinatas there are pinata fillers which are huge bags of candy, everyone likes candy and you can get the pinata in the shape of a heel or martini glass and fill it up, it's your party, have fun with it!



If your friends have seen the show or movie, you can do quotes and have trivia on who said them, like when Carrie said, "you said a mouthful there sister" you say the quote and they guess who said it. You just have to make sure everyone has seen the movie or show.



For more ideas on activities to do without having to see the movie/show, you can do cupcakes and a tiered birthday with pink icing.



You can also do an ice cream bar! Get chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream and some toppings. Sprinkles, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and cherries, and have everyone make their own sundaes. You can go to the dollar store and get the tall plastic sundae cups or at the grocery store they have the waffle cone bowls.



You can also pick up the CD soundtrack of the movie, it's already out and play the music from the movie at the party.



You can do other games, if you're looking to do games, the girls always played poker and cards when they got together, it was a weekly thing, you can do that, and have a card game.



You can play Twister, Charades, etc.



I would find out who out of your guests have seen the show or the movie and go from there with your activites. If they know even some of the characters you can do some games based on them and play a guess the characters type of charades. I would see if you can base any games on the movie or series itself and then if not, go with regular games.

Well for a SATC themed party you could have finger food and martini's with cranberry juice and sprite in it and call it a virgin cosmo.



The figure food could include, sushi, crackers and cheese, mini sandwiches, fruits cups.



The colors could be pink and black or you could have four tables and decorate each one like one of the SATC characters. For Carrie you could have a trendy sexy table, for Miranda you could have a traditional table, etc.

get your 4 best friends to help you with decorations and such, and when it's party time, maybe each of them could dress up like one of the girls.. seeing as how you're the one who the party's for, you could go as Carrie, since she's the main character of the show/movie, and maybe if you have a bf, get him to be Mr. Big like in a suit or something

maybe throw a mini fashion show? since they always have fashion content in it.

and magazines/articles.

Have a gossip session where you just chat it out about relationships, fashion etc.

Rent a dvd of one of the seasons and play it in the background.

My girls and I went to see the movie last weekend and we had an awesome time just getting ready. :) HEELS! Perhaps, hmm, pink?? Maybe even a cute clutch instead of a huge purse, but that could certainly get annoying to drag around. (But it sure would look cute right)



Even if you serve PINK LEMONADE, serve it in martini glasses.



I guess if it were me, I would go for the "Chic-New York-Fashion-After Party" look. Not too much in the way of balloons, but try to stay very classy...less "birthday". For example, I would keep TABLECLOTHS and "stuff" of that nature very simple...like black. Then add your COLOR in the food that your serving and your clothes.



Make sure you don't put TOO much time and effort into every detail, because events don't always go as planned. You want to make sure you and your guests have fun above all else!!



You can make your own "WALL ART" out of several things. Buy some cheap frames form the dollar store, garage sales, or the goodwill...then get a few different fabrics or wrapping paper you like (remember STAY SIMPLE) and frame them. Wa-La!



Oh, if you know anybody that is a "wiz on the computer"...you could ask them to make you a slideshow as their present to you. A slideshow of the girls and pictures from the show and/or movie...set it to the movie's soundtrack! Heck, you could even throw in some pictures of yourself with your friends to kind of "include yourselves" into the show!

well i can have virgin cosmos (cider with genadine or razberry gingerale with some cranberry juice) and pink black and white balloons. SATC trivia and dress up games. a sheet cake with the movie poster pic on it would be nice and allot of pink would be key but the right pink. ladies should be asked to dress super chic and according to their fave SATC woman and give out a prize for the best one!
