OK, I have a TV. It is a Magnavox, and it doesn't work. It only shows static. There is a reason for this: it is an old TV and I never bought a converter box for it. I don't watch TV so this is OK with me. This is not the problem.
The problem is, I do play video games, and for some reason those don't work on it either. I have a PS2 which runs fine. It is connected to a DVD player which is connected to the TV. Something is screwed up with the DVD player, or with its connection to the TV. When I turn on the DVD player, the TV screen flickers, so I know it's connected, but the TV still displays static. Instead of a video game.
I haven't played a console game for like six months, so I suppose something could have gotten screwed up with it in the meantime. But as far as I can tell, nothing has - it should be working. But it isn't. The wires behind it are kind of tangled and it's hard for me to see what goes where, but I think all of them are connected.
Any of you know what could be causing this?DVD player showing static?
I don't know if this is your problem, but mine was very similar. My little brother decided that he didn't want to play his V-Tech games on his old 24 inch screen, so he unplugged my DVD player from my TV, to use it. When he was done he tried to put the DVD player back the way it had been but he put the yellow Video Cord in the wrong plug, so when I turned my TV on all I got was static. I eventually ended up cycling the Video Cord through every plug that it fit in on TV and DVD Player one at a time. (Yes I probably should have just looked for a yellow plug, but I didn't have my contacts in and that corner of my room has no light.) Eventually I got it right and everything worked fine.
